The work on Thane’s Kopri bridge which would connect Thane east and Thane west was started with much fanfare. This bridge would be in addition to the existing narrow bridge which now connects east and west. However, for the past few years, the work on this bridge has come to a complete stand still. This is causing a lot of inconvenience for the vehicular traffic.

Vans and tempos have to go all the way upto the octroi post and then turn back to go to the Thane east station. Same with the numerous company buses which come to the east to pick up employees. This causes a sort of traffic jam at the junction. This causes a lot of time being wasted for people who want to travel to the thane east station.

Some people say that the work has stopped due to political issue, while some say that the engineering of the bridge has gone all wrong. Whatever be the reason, we all just hope that the work on the bridge resumes and get completed asap. If required, we should start afresh. Agreed, this would cost more to the TMC, but atleast the money spent uptill now would not go waste and people don’t get to use the bridge.
